Luxury flat, in historic building, in Funchal city centre.
Bual or Boal is a Portuguese grape variety used for the production of Madeira Wine, widely cultivated during the 18th and 19th centuries. Bual is part of a group of properties called "The Wine Lodges", located in the heart of the city in a historic building, which houses one of the most important Madeira wine cellars belonging to the iconic Blandy family. With a decoration thought to detail, where elegance coexists in symbiosis with the building's history, this property offers excellent comfort and luxury details without equality. The flat has generous spaces, making it perfect for a holiday with a group of friends or family. Situated on the second floor, in its total area we find a master bedroom, with double bed and two balconies overlooking the Municipal Garden. The guest bedroom is equipped with two single beds and the living room has a sofa bed for two people. This property accommodates a maximum of six people. AREA The property is located in the noble and central area of Funchal. From this property, you will be able to know all the downtown and main points of interest. This flat is situated right next to the famous Municipal Garden of Funchal and very close to the Funchal Marina and the Municipal Theatre. In the same building of the property you can visit one of the most important Madeira wine lodges Blandy's Wine Lodges is open daily for tastings and guided tours. In these same lodges you may get to know and purchase a wide range of wines, which you may later pick up at the airport after passing through customs. Guests of this property have one free ticket per couple. Another must is the bar and restaurant "1811 Wine Bar", which is located in the same building. Here, you can enjoy unique delicacies accompanied by excellent wines. Our guests are granted an exclusive discount in this fantastic space. In the city centre there is plenty of information about all kinds of activities you can do during your holiday: cultural activities, radical activities, activities linked to nature... whatever the purpose of your visit to Madeira Island! GETTING AROUND The best option to get to the property will be the transfer. Ask us to book one with our local partners. It is cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport. If you rent a car, any navigation app can easily find the address. ACCESS TO PROPERTY You have access to all areas of the property. INTERACTION We are always available to help or answer questions. We do our best to reply all requests. We also have an app for guests with all the important information about the property and other useful information for your stay. OTHER OBSERVATIONS - According to Portuguese law, all guests are required to present a valid ID. (passport or identity card). - Check-in hour must be scheduled in advance. If it is not scheduled within a maximum of 48 hours before, guests will be subject to the availability of our team. - All bed linen and towels are provided. We can also put a baby cot, a high chair and a baby bath if needed, but you should request. There are a first aid kit, extinguishers and fire blanket in the property. ATTENTION Please be advised that a Tourist Fee will be charged to all persons staying overnight in the municipality of Funchal. Thus, all customers staying in tourist resorts and/or accommodation establishments, aged 13 or over, will be charged €2.00 per person/night, up to a maximum of 7 nights and a maximum of €14.00 per person/stay. When you arrive, you will receive a link to pay this municipal tax. RULES We want you to feel at home. We do not ask for more than respect for neighbours and care for the property, in addition to not smoking inside the house.

This apartment is HUGE!!! All of the rooms are very large. We felt like royalty staying there! And it's located across from one of the most beautiful municipal parks I've ever seen; It was a joy walking through it every day. Neighborhood felt very safe, and there were TONS of great restaurants nearby. It was also very quiet inside the apartment. The only negatives were that the bathroom had a strong sewer and chemical smell when we first arrived. Opening the window helped. The smell would come and go but never fully went away. I hope they can figure out what the issue is - that was a real minus for us. The air conditioner in the large bedroom leaked badly after a few hours of use, and the air conditioner in the small bedroom never seemed to get entirely cool. (It's possible there was something I didn't press on the small room remote to get the temperature to change but there were no instructions, so I tried everything that seemed logical.) The Management tried to get maintenance to come by while we were there, but they were too busy - hopefully that will all be remedied by the time new guests arrive. The communication with the rental team wasn't always timely or adequate. We were told several times that "someone would come to take a look" (at the bathroom odor, the air conditioner) but no one ever came and we were never told that plans had changed and that no one would be coming. Also, there were supposed to be instructions for the washer, but there weren't -- Those would have been very helpful! (Again, hopefully management will provide those for future guests, as there's a place in the guest booklet for them) In a HUGE plus, we were compensated for our inconvenience (bathroom smell and dripping water waking us up at night) and that was most appreciated. Overall, I highly recommend this wonderful place - it really was wonderful to stay here and have so much space to spread out in.
